BLM layoffs and road maintenance cutbacks

Post by pasayten »

Well, as we rockhound in the Boise/Owyhee area on BLM lands, I was interested about how many staff were laid off and what the road maintenance would be after the trump/musk cutbacks...

I got a bs response from BLM's press office...

Hi Ray,
We do not have a comment on personnel matters, however, BLM reaffirms its unwavering commitment to both the American public and the lands we protect. We are working closely with the Office of Personnel Management to ensure we are prioritizing fiscal responsibility for the American people.

To the heck with that... I just went the FOIA route...

I just submitted 2 FOIA's... One for Idaho, and one for the Owyhee Field Office in Oregon....
1. October 1, 2024 list of staff, duty station, job description, pay grade, and salaries.
2, March 6, 2025 list of staff, duty station, job description, pay grade, and salaries.
3, October 1, 2024 budget amount for road construction and repair.
4. March 6, 2025 amount spent since October 1, 2024 for road construction and repair and budget left for remainder of fiscal year. (Date Range for Record Search: From 10/01/2024 To 03/06/2025)

Let's see how they like that... lol... 🙂

Maybe the rockhounding clubs & offroad clubs could 'give back' by doing some road maintenance if it comes down to it?

Craig of Idaho Rocks & Gems did a recon of Succor Creek Rd Saturday 3/8... It was dry enough to travel and had been graded... Also the washed out culverts were repaired enough for vehicles to safely navigate.
